Mother of ten convicted of enslaving woman with learning disabilities for 25 years

A mother of ten has been convicted of holding a woman with learning disabilities as a "slave" for 25 years, subjecting her to severe abuse. The victim, who was kidnapped at 16, was forbidden from washing for over a year, had her head forcibly shaved, and was forced to perform labor. She escaped in 2021, appearing severely malnourished and injured. The convicted woman, Amanda Wixon, also cashed in the victim's benefits. She denies the allegations and will be sentenced in March, with a jail term considered a certainty.
