MOTELX marks 20th edition with expanded Lisbon programme

MOTELX, Portugal's horror film festival, opens its 20th edition in Lisbon on Thursday, running for ten days until September 13th with an expanded programme across two venues. For the first time, the festival adds the Cinemateca Portuguesa as a second venue alongside its usual home at Cinema São Jorge. The opening film is the US production Drag, and the programme includes tributes to Italian giallo director Sergio Martino and the late Roger Corman. The festival also features the "Room Service" section with standout titles and a competition for the Meliès d'Argent award. The Noémia Delgado Award goes to Portuguese-Swedish filmmaker Solveig Nordlund, with the event directed by João Monteiro and Pedro Souto.
