Montopoli mandates logo bags for unsorted waste starting October 5

lanazione.it (Italian) —

Starting Monday, October 5, Montopoli residents must use new semi-transparent bags with the Geofor logo for unsorted waste. Bags without the logo will not be collected. The mandatory bags apply only to household waste; businesses and tourism facilities are exempt. Each family received 30 bags, intended to last a year, with collection continuing on Mondays. Extra bags are available at the Pubblica Assistenza in Capanne every Wednesday. The change addresses Montopoli's high unsorted waste rate of 31.63%, which has grown since 2017. Officials attribute this to less careful recycling practices. Ten public assemblies with Geofor concluded last Monday to explain the new system, which officials hope will improve the community's waste sorting performance.
