Monsoon rains to hit upper, central Pakistan from Aug 13
Pakistan's meteorological department forecasts monsoon rains with strong winds and thundershowers across upper and central regions from August 13 to 15, warning of urban flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas. The rains will affect Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Balochistan and Sindh. Authorities specifically cautioned about urban flooding in low-lying areas of major cities and landslides in mountainous regions. The advisory comes as Pakistan's ongoing monsoon season has already caused 155 deaths and 460 injuries, according to the National Disaster Management Authority. Officials advised tourists to exercise caution and urged farmers to plan activities accordingly.
