Monkey populations have surged in Thenmala and Aryankavu panchayats, leading to the collapse of the agricultural sector. Previously abundant crops like yam, taro, and cashew are now unaffordable, forcing residents to purchase them. This issue stems from monkeys released in the area decades ago. These monkeys, accustomed to human presence, pose a significant threat to crops and property, damaging roofs and entering homes.
