Mohammed Rafi honored at IFFI 2024 with biopic plans announced

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is honoring legendary singer Mohammed Rafi as part of a tribute to four Indian cinema icons on their 100th birth anniversaries. Rafi's son, Shahid Rafi, shared memories of his father's impact and popularity. Shahid Rafi announced plans for a biopic about his father, with a contract signed with filmmaker Umesh Shukla. The film aims to highlight Rafi's humble life and musical journey, which included over a thousand songs across various genres. Rafi, born on December 24, 1924, is celebrated as one of India's greatest singers, known for his versatility and emotional depth. He received numerous awards, including six Filmfare Awards and the Padma Shri, before his passing in 1980.
