Mohali Police have intensified efforts to address parking violations, clamping 2,146 vehicles in 30 days. This follows a similar initiative by Chandigarh Police. The focus is on areas like the DC office, court complex, and markets. Vehicle owners must pay a Rs 500 fine to release their clamped vehicles. If unclaimed, the vehicles will be towed, and fines will increase. The crackdown aims to reduce road congestion and improve safety for commuters. In January, Mohali traffic police issued 12,487 traffic challans for various violations. In 2024, they issued over 29,000 challans for wrong-side driving and 20,000 for wrong parking, collecting a total of Rs 5.8 crore in fines.
