Modi calls India's GDP growth an inspiration for the world in talks with Belgian PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India's GDP growth as an inspiration for the world during delegation-level talks with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in New Delhi on Thursday, emphasizing the country's momentum despite global uncertainty. Modi highlighted India's expanding economic engagement with Europe, including a free trade agreement with the EU, and noted significant progress in the India-Belgium partnership over the past decade. He outlined cooperation areas such as defence, clean energy, and the Zorawar tank, while announcing a fast-track mechanism for Belgian companies and a target to double bilateral trade within five years. De Wever, in office since February 2025, is making his first visit to India as Belgian Prime Minister, marking the first such trip in two decades. The visit follows a Belgian Economic Mission led by Princess Astrid in March 2025, which resulted in 38 memorandums of understanding.
