Modi and Trump discuss US defense sales including Javelin missiles and Stryker vehicles
During a recent meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed enhancing defense cooperation. The U.S. plans to sell India F-35 stealth fighter jets and facilitate the purchase of Javelin anti-tank missiles and Stryker armored vehicles. The Javelin is a shoulder-fired missile system known for its ability to target armored vehicles and bunkers. It is designed for ease of use and effectiveness in various conditions. India has been interested in acquiring Javelins since 2010, with recent tests indicating mixed results. The Stryker is an eight-wheeled combat vehicle with multiple variants, suitable for various military roles. India aims to deploy Strykers in high-altitude areas and plans to manufacture them locally after initial imports. This collaboration marks a significant step in U.S.-India defense ties.
