Modi and Macron commit to collaboration on India-Middle East-Europe Corridor
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed to enhance cooperation on the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEEC). This project aims to improve trade and connectivity between India, Europe, and the Middle East. The IMEEC will feature two main corridors: one linking India to the Gulf and another connecting the Gulf to Europe. It seeks to mobilize $600 billion by 2027 to address infrastructure needs in partner countries. During his visit to Marseille, Modi also inaugurated an Indian consulate, which aims to strengthen ties between India and France. The IMEEC is seen as a strategic alternative to China's Belt and Road Initiative.
