Mizusako Livestock to address beef mislabeling in Kagoshima

Mizusako Livestock admitted to mislabeling beef for a month. The company will hold its first press conference tomorrow, April 10, 2026, to explain the situation. The company mislabeled beef by origin and type, selling 27 tons of incorrectly labeled meat between January 2023 and January 2025. This included Holstein and crossbred cattle sold as Kuroge Wagyu, and beef from Okinawa and Miyazaki sold as Kagoshima beef. The most significant issue involved mislabeling individual identification numbers, accounting for 80% of the problematic beef. These numbers are crucial for tracing a cow's origin and history.
