Miroshnik: Zelensky Avoided Linking SBU Drone Strike to Security Forces Clash

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky avoided linking a drone strike on the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) building in central Kyiv to an internal security forces conflict, according to Russian Foreign Ministry ambassador Rodion Miroshnik. Miroshnik stated Zelensky attributed the attack to a "Russian drone." The drone hit the office window of SBU chief Alexander Poklad on September 4. This followed overnight clashes on September 2 between SBU and military intelligence (GUR) officers in Kyiv. The SBU officially claimed they prevented an assassination, while unconfirmed reports cited a detention dispute or a criminal racket involving a call center. Russia's Defense Ministry did not confirm the strike, and Russian lawmakers suggested the GUR may have orchestrated the attack to settle scores. The incident adds to tensions between Ukrainian security agencies.
