Microsoft Teams adds bot detection to meeting lobbies

heise.de (German)

Microsoft Teams will introduce a feature to clearly identify external third-party bots in meeting lobbies. This aims to give organizers more control over who joins their meetings. Organizers will receive a distinct notification when external bots attempt to join, requiring explicit approval to admit them. This change is scheduled for global rollout starting May 2026 across all major platforms. Additionally, Teams will stop sending notifications about soon-to-expire meeting recordings to reduce notification clutter, a change effective June 1, 2026.
