Microsoft ramps up ads urging Windows 10 users to buy new laptops as support deadline approaches
Microsoft is intensifying efforts to transition users from Windows 10 to Windows 11 by displaying full-screen ads promoting new laptops. These ads encourage users to buy a Copilot+ laptop instead of simply upgrading their current systems. Windows 10 will lose support in October 2025, and currently, about 61% of Windows machines still run it, while Windows 11 accounts for around 35%. This marks a slow shift compared to six months ago when Windows 10 held nearly 70% of the market. The new advertising strategy highlights Microsoft's push to phase out Windows 10, contrasting with previous alerts that focused on upgrades. The company aims to boost Windows 11 adoption amid growing competition from other operating systems.
