Microsoft Paint adds project files with layers

Microsoft Paint is gaining the ability to save project files with layers, a feature previously found in professional editing software. This new .PAINT file extension will allow users to save their work with distinct layers, enabling them to resume editing later. The feature is currently in testing with Windows Insiders. Paint also received opacity sliders for its pen and brush tools. The timeline for a general release of the .PAINT file format remains unannounced.
