Microsoft addresses installation and blue screen issues in Windows Server 2025
Microsoft has confirmed bugs in Windows Server 2025 that cause installation failures and Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors on systems with more than 256 logical processors. Users may experience slow starts and crashes when running applications. The company advises checking the number of logical processors using Task Manager to see if a system is affected. A fix is in development and will be included in a future monthly update. In the meantime, users can limit logical processors to 256 or fewer as a workaround. Windows Server 2025 is now generally available, following its introduction in January. It includes features like next-gen Active Directory and hotpatching. A free 180-day trial is available through the Microsoft Evaluation Center.
