Mexico to vote on dual nationality ban for presidential candidates

Mexico's Chamber of Deputies will approve President Claudia Sheinbaum's initiative banning dual nationality for presidential and gubernatorial candidates in the second half of September, according to Morena coordinator Ricardo Monreal. Monreal announced the constitutional reform proposal will be analyzed in the Constitutional Points commission starting Wednesday, September 9, with plenary discussion and voting scheduled for September 14-16. New Chamber President Raúl Bolaños expressed support for the initiative. Bolaños stated that presidential aspirants must have a 100 percent commitment to Mexico, agreeing with the president's proposal and expecting the commission to produce a clear ruling on the changes.
