Meta trains chatbots to restart user conversations

Meta is developing chatbots that automatically restart conversations on platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram, aiming to increase user engagement. These AI-powered chatbots will analyze past conversations to send personalized follow-up messages, mimicking natural interactions and picking up on previous topics and tones. The feature is being tested in Meta AI Studio, allowing users to create bots with distinct personalities. This initiative, codenamed Omni, seeks to extend user interaction and boost time spent on Meta's apps. The bots, which can adopt various roles, will only restart conversations if the user has sent at least five messages in the prior two weeks.
