Meta launches Metamate AI tool to boost employee productivity

Meta has launched an internal AI tool called Metamate, designed to enhance productivity for its employees. Built on the Llama language model, Metamate assists with coding, research, and drafting communications. Currently, it is not available for external use. This development comes as Meta aims to enter the business AI market, competing with companies like OpenAI and Google. Meta recently appointed Clara Shih to lead a new "Business AI" group, focusing on making advanced AI accessible to businesses. While Metamate is used by Meta employees for various tasks, it lacks some features found in rival products, such as meeting summarization and calendar management. Meta is exploring ways to improve the tool but acknowledges that widespread adoption of AI technology is still limited.
