Melaka CM says DAP ties intact after party leaves state government

thestar.com.my —

Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said personal ties with DAP lawmakers remain intact after the party exited the Melaka state government, as stated in an interview on Sunday (Oct 4). The exit followed a July 14 constitutional amendment allowing up to seven nominated assemblymen, which all four DAP assemblymen opposed before resigning their administrative posts. Ab Rauf said DAP officials received equal allocations and privileges. Barisan Nasional leadership has authorized Ab Rauf to negotiate potential electoral partnerships ahead of the state election. The Election Commission will meet on Oct 7 to set nomination and polling dates for the 16th Melaka state election.
