Meghalaya Cabinet meeting features trek to living root bridge creator

Meghalaya's Cabinet meeting on January 11, 2025, included a unique trekking component. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma led ministers and officials on a trek to meet Hally War, the creator of a living root bridge, highlighting local culture and sustainable practices. The trek followed an hour-long bus ride to Siej village, known for its living root bridge, which has been part of the community for over 300 years. The Cabinet retreat aimed to promote tourism and development in the region. During the retreat, the Cabinet approved several initiatives, including a market scheme for farmers, regularization of employees, and new infrastructure projects. The government also announced plans for Vision 2032, marking Meghalaya's 60 years of statehood.
