Employees at the Meeri-Peeri Medical Institute received one month's salary on Tuesday, providing partial relief in a dispute over four months of unpaid wages. The payment prompted the postponement of a planned protest. The trust released wages for fourth-class employees, leading the staff struggle committee to call off a proposed siege and indefinite dharna. CEO Dr. Sandeep Inder Singh Cheema requested the two-day suspension, citing important meetings scheduled for August 4-5 at SGPC headquarters in Amritsar. Following the meeting, the committee and doctors decided to grant a three-day final opportunity for resolution. The upcoming discussions will address salary payments and the institution's future operations.
