Medvedev lists conditions for 'sustainable peace' with Ukraine
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev stated conditions for a "sustainable peace" with Ukraine, including a non-nuclear status, recognition of occupied territories as Russian, and other demands. He made the remarks in an interview with Iranian state media. Medvedev listed three conditions: Ukraine's neutral, non-nuclear, and independent status; abandonment of nationalist policies and lifting bans on the Russian language; and transfer of territories enshrined in Russia's constitution, including Donbas, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. He threatened military action if these demands are not met. The statements come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently said US attempts to compromise with Russia waste time, arguing Putin will use any changes to press new demands. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted four proposals exist regarding Black Sea and energy ceasefires.
