MCG streamlines property tax corrections by empowering zonal officers

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has empowered zonal taxation officers to correct property tax assessment errors involving discrepancies up to Rs 1 lakh. Previously, only joint and additional commissioners could handle these issues, making the process longer for residents. Joint commissioners can now address discrepancies between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, while additional commissioners can manage differences from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. The commissioner will handle discrepancies above Rs 20 lakh. Errors in property tax assessments stem from inaccuracies in the property tax database, which were identified in a survey conducted in January 2022. These inaccuracies include mistakes in names, addresses, and property sizes.
