Matsuyama City completes landslide recovery work on Mt. Shiroyama before the rainy season

Matsuyama City's disaster recovery work on Mt. Shiroyama, following a 2024 landslide, is complete before the rainy season. The project, costing approximately 470 million yen, involved installing high-strength nets on slopes, rebuilding roads and retaining walls, and driving piles into bedrock. This follows a devastating landslide in July 2024 that claimed three lives. The prefecture's work on rockfall protection fences was finished in mid-May, marking the end of all restoration efforts. Residents can now return to a sense of normalcy, with access to the castle grounds and climbing paths resuming June 1.
