Mathura temple installs metal purity tester for donated articles

timesofindia.indiatimes.com —

The Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva-Sansthan in Mathura has installed a computerised machine to test the purity of metal articles donated by devotees, following concerns over donation handling. The machine will test items before they are accepted at the donation counter. The machine can determine metal purity and composition without cutting or altering articles. Donors will receive a receipt and a test report signed by them, with a copy kept in sansthan records. Metal from hundis will be tested separately in the counting room. The move follows an alleged theft at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, where eight people were arrested and a chargesheet filed. A seer had earlier alleged embezzlement at Krishna Janmabhoomi but withdrew the claim, citing lack of evidence.
