Massive turnout marks first national celebration of Feast of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno in Manila
The 2025 "traslacion" in Manila was notable as it marked the first celebration of the Feast of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno as a national feast day in the Philippines. This change allows parishes nationwide to celebrate independently. Additionally, the church was renamed to the "Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno" in October 2024. This shift emphasizes the holy name of Jesus rather than the statue's color, promoting inclusivity in devotion. The procession drew hundreds of thousands of devotees, with estimates of 220,000 attending the Mass and over 190,000 participating in the procession. The Philippine Red Cross reported treating nearly 450 people for minor injuries during the event.
