rte.ie

Mason Melia will transfer from St Patrick's Athletic to Tottenham Hotspur in January 2026 for an initial fee of £1.5m (€1.8m), a record for a League of Ireland player. The total fee could reach £3.5m (€4.2m) with additional terms. Melia, who turns 18 in September, debuted for St Pat's at 15 and became the youngest scorer in League of Ireland history. He was named PFAI Young Player of the Year last season and spent time on trial with Manchester City. Due to Brexit rules, Melia cannot officially join Tottenham until after his birthday. He will remain with St Patrick's Athletic for the 2025 season before completing the transfer.
