Kostyuk took the first set in a tie-break and dominated the second set. The match started poorly for Kostyuk, who trailed 0:2 and later 1:4 before staging a comeback to force a tie-break, which she won 7:6. The second set lasted only 24 minutes, with Kostyuk winning 6:0 without conceding a game. Kostyuk, ranked 11th in the WTA, reached the Wimbledon semifinals this season and won titles in Madrid and Rouen. She will face the winner of Antonia Ruzic versus Madison Keys in the next round.
