Mara hospital to serve all races, says chairman

Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the proposed Mara hospital will be open to patients of all races, dismissing claims it would prioritise Bumiputera patients. He confirmed anyone can seek treatment there. Speaking at a press conference before the 2026 Umno general assembly on Thursday, Asyraf said the hospital aims to complete Mara's existing health education and entrepreneurship ecosystem. It would complement institutions like Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak and support clinical training. Mara announced on Aug 24 it formed a task force to study the hospital proposal, which would also serve as a teaching facility. The task force will evaluate the plan before a final decision, with the hospital supporting Malay and Bumiputera participation in healthcare education and entrepreneurship.
