Mangaluru parents demand accessible toilets for children with special needs
Parents in Mangaluru are protesting the lack of accessible toilets for children with special needs in public places like Kadri park, government buildings, and malls, forcing many families to stay indoors. Meena Noronha led a delegation to Health Minister U T Khader, noting that existing disabled-friendly restrooms in malls are often locked or used as storage. Saksham Trust President Rajashekhara Bhat Kakunje highlighted the absence of such facilities along highways and at fuel stations. Activists urge a signature campaign to pressure district authorities, while Horticulture department official Praveen K assured the demand will be raised at the next Kadri Park Development Committee meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner.
