Man sentenced to eight years for threatening mass shooting at Embry-Riddle University

John Hagins, 22, was sentenced to eight years in prison for threatening a mass shooting at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He pleaded no contest to charges including attempted manslaughter and attempted terrorism. Hagins was arrested in December 2021 after a roommate reported his threats. He had shown the roommate a gun and discussed plans to carry it to school. In addition to prison time, Hagins received 22 years of probation. He remains in custody at the Volusia County Jail.
