A 68-year-old man was rescued by firefighters on October 3 after getting lost while hiking in the Kobisawara Primeval Forest in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. He was found uninjured. The unemployed man from Shuzenji began his solo hike from the parking lot of Manjo Falls around 1:30 p.m. He had visited the forest three times before using a map app, but this time he walked without it and lost his way. He called 110 himself, stating he had strayed from the trail and walked for an hour in the woods. Firefighters located and rescued him about two hours after his call. Police urged hikers to ensure proper equipment, physical condition, and a reasonable hiking plan.
