Man escapes after driving car into Mandovi River at Divar ferry point

A man drove his car into the Mandovi River at the Divar ferry point early Saturday morning after falling asleep. The driver, Sharmad Shirodkar, escaped from the sinking vehicle, which was later retrieved by emergency services. The incident occurred around 3 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services. A rescue team used a life buoy to help Shirodkar swim to safety. The submerged car was located and removed by a crane after confirming no one else was inside. The operation concluded by 6:45 a.m., with damages estimated at Rs 50,000.
