A man who fatally stabbed 18-year-old Mehakpreet Sethi outside Tamanawis Secondary School in Surrey will not serve additional jail time. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter, reducing his original second-degree murder charge. In January, he received a sentence of two years less a day of community supervision, with credit for 12 days served. He also faces a 10-year firearms ban. The incident occurred in November 2022 during a confrontation involving Sethi and a group of boys. The offender claimed self-defense, stating he did not intend to kill Sethi, who died from a stab wound.
