Man attempts mother’s murder-suicide in Kerala

In Kerala, a 35-year-old man has died by suicide after a tragic incident involving his mother. Ranjith, from Elamadu, and his 58-year-old mother, Sujatha, reportedly faced financial troubles and her declining health. They had agreed to end their lives together. On Friday, they allegedly took a large number of pills. Afterward, Ranjith attempted to strangle his mother with a shawl, believing she was dead. He then hanged himself. However, Sujatha survived and was found in critical condition the next morning. The discovery was made when officials from the Kerala State Electricity Board came to check on an overdue electricity bill. They heard Sujatha’s cries for water and called for help. She was taken to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment. The two had no other family members.
