Man arrested for allegedly shooting friend in Southeast Albuquerque

A man named Adam Roberts, 30, was arrested for allegedly shooting his friend, Gavin Huntsman, 23, in Southeast Albuquerque. Roberts faces charges of murder and negligent use of a firearm. He is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center. The shooting occurred on Monday after Roberts and Huntsman had been drinking. Witnesses reported that Roberts accidentally shot Huntsman while handling a gun in an apartment parking lot. Police found Huntsman dead with a gunshot wound to the head. Roberts reportedly expressed regret after the incident, saying, "I just killed my brother." He has a prior history of violent charges, but those were dismissed in 2021 due to a lack of witness testimony.
