Malekudiya group requests ₹100 crore grant for tribal development in Western Ghats

The Udupi Jilla Malekudiya Sangha has requested a special grant of ₹100 crore from the government for the development of Malekudiya tribal communities in the Western Ghats. The group's president, Sridhara Gowda Idu, emphasized the need for 400 acres of land for landless Malekudiya people and improved infrastructure in their areas. Idu also opposed the implementation of the Kasturirangan Committee Report, which may affect the tribal communities.
