MahaRERA urges Pune collector to expedite recovery from builders for Rs 177 crore in pending cases

Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has instructed Pune collector Jitendra Dudi to expedite recovery warrants against developers, aiming to recover Rs 177.40 crore from 212 cases. This follows delays caused by elections over the past year. MahaRERA's chairman emphasized the need to clear these orders, suggesting action on major projects to recover at least 50% of the dues. The authority is also appointing retired officials to assist in the process. Statewide, over 1,000 cases totaling Rs 771 crore are pending. MahaRERA plans to enhance recovery efforts by appointing retired tehsildars in various districts, but formal powers may be needed for effective enforcement.
