Magdeburg II suffer first defeat against efficient Luckenwalde

Felix Pilger scored the decisive goal to give 1. FC Magdeburg II their first league defeat of the season, as FSV Luckenwalde won 1-0 on Tuesday. Magdeburg dominated possession but failed to convert their chances. Pilger, a former Zwickau player, scored shortly after halftime in the 49th minute following a counter-attack. Despite having roughly 80 percent of the ball, Magdeburg were too wasteful in front of goal, with Luckenwalde goalkeeper Kevin Tittel making several key saves. Magdeburg coach Ronny Thielemann made nine changes to his starting lineup but saw his team struggle to break down the visitors' defense. Luckenwalde secured their first win of the season, while Magdeburg next face SV Babelsberg on August 11.
