Madhya Pradesh plans new districts and a division, impacting Bhopal and Rewa
Madhya Pradesh is preparing to create three new districts and one new division, potentially altering district boundaries. This reorganization will significantly impact Bhopal, Rewa, and the newly formed Maihar district. Bhopal will see its number of tehsils increase from three to eight, with each assembly constituency getting its own tehsil. A dispute has arisen over six villages from Maihar proposed to be merged into Rewa district, centered around the White Tiger Safari. The administrative reorganization is being overseen by a commission aiming to complete fieldwork by December 2025, before census-related boundary freezes. The Indian Institute of Public Administration will provide technical assistance for boundary demarcation.
