Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's comment about being "wealthy and sorted" has received the most nominations for Massey University's Quote of the Year 2024. It will compete against quotes from rugby stars and a cockatoo. The shortlist was narrowed down from over 70 nominations by a panel led by speech-writing specialist Dr. Heather Kavan. Previous winners include humorous remarks from politicians and heroes of Cyclone Gabrielle. Voting for the award closes at midnight on Wednesday. This year also introduced the Freddie Award for impactful quotes made in the previous year, inspired by Resource Minister Shane Jones' comment about a "blind frog."
