Luminate to Label AI-Generated Music on Its Platform This Year

Luminate announced Tuesday it will add labels for AI-generated music to its platform later this year, following similar moves by Apple Music and Spotify. The entertainment data company's framework aims to identify AI content for customers and partners. Luminate's system combines proprietary identification technology with partnerships involving streaming services and AI music companies. Songs or artist profiles flagged as AI-generated will receive an "AI Generated" label, with a review process available for false positives. The company will also ingest data from DSPs and source attribution directly from AI music creators. The announcement continues an industry trend dating to early 2025, when Deezer first tagged fully AI tracks. Spotify now labels "AI Personas," while Apple Music plans self-disclosure-based labels. Some platforms like Bandcamp and iHeartRadio have instead banned largely AI-generated music entirely.
