Ludhiana officials seek government approval to relocate carcass utilization plant to Jamalpur site

Civic officials in Ludhiana are still waiting for government approval to move a carcass utilization plant from Noorpur village to the Jamalpur dumping site. The move was proposed over two months ago due to operational challenges at the current location. The estimated cost for the relocation is Rs 3.5 crore. Officials state that the government must decide on the shift, amid concerns about land use near the dump site and ongoing waste bioremediation efforts. The plant was built in 2021 after a green tribunal directive, but it has not started operations due to local opposition. Villagers fear health risks from odors if the plant begins functioning.
