LSU theater professor Nels Anderson known for scenic designs dies at 85

Nels Anderson, a longtime theater professor at LSU, passed away on January 9 at the age of 85. He was known for his scenic designs, particularly for the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre's "The Nutcracker — A Tale From The Bayou." Anderson had a distinguished career, designing sets for over 130 productions at LSU and Swine Palace, as well as numerous shows in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Singapore. He began teaching at LSU in 1982 and was a professor emeritus. A celebration of life service is scheduled for January 19, with details to be announced.
