LRT1 Cavite Extension opens with high passenger volume at top stations

The LRT1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 began operations on November 16, 2024, with five new stations. The busiest stations on the first day were PITX, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, and Dr. Santos, showing a significant increase in passenger volume. Light Rail Manila Corp. reported more southbound passengers from EDSA Station, particularly to PITX. Many first-time riders and families chose the train over personal vehicles, especially on the weekend. The extension increases the LRT1 line to 25 stations over 27 kilometers. Train service hours and fare structures remain unchanged, with fares starting at P13.29.
