LPU and Kashmir researchers created a colorectal cancer rat model
Researchers at Lovely Professional University (LPU) and the University of Kashmir have developed an in-vivo model for colorectal cancer in rats. This allows for testing new preventative agents and studying the cancer's development and spread. This research advances what was previously possible at these facilities. This model facilitates studies on colorectal cancer mechanisms, opening new avenues for treatment and prevention. The study found extracts from Rheum webbianum rhizome show potential as a chemopreventive agent for this type of cancer. The research, published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, used a well-known carcinogen. Experts recognize the contribution to cancer research and ethnopharmacology, particularly exploring the potential of natural agents.
