Louisiana jury convicts woman in Telemundo reporter's Super Bowl death

A Louisiana jury convicted Danette Colbert of negligent homicide and racketeering on Thursday in the February 2025 death of Telemundo reporter Adan Manzano, who was in New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl. Her accomplice, Rickey White, was acquitted of manslaughter but convicted of racketeering. Prosecutors said Colbert, 49, and White, 35, ran a criminal enterprise that drugged victims in the French Quarter to rob them. Manzano, 27, died from ingesting alcohol and Xanax while lying face down. Colbert was the last person seen leaving his hotel room and later used his credit card. Colbert faces up to 10 years for negligent homicide, while racketeering carries up to 50 years. Both are scheduled for sentencing in late September. Manzano's family could not attend the trial, and he is survived by a toddler daughter.
