Los Angeles' mayor appointed a new deputy mayor for public safety
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass appointed Robert Clark as the new Deputy Mayor for Public Safety. Clark, formerly an FBI official, replaced Brian K. Williams, who was placed on administrative leave four months prior. Williams is accused of making a bomb threat. The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the bomb threat and referred the case to the FBI. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed. Williams is reportedly retiring but remains on the city payroll. Clark's role includes overseeing police and fire issues and assisting with the city's recovery from a recent fire. Prior to this position, Clark worked as a law enforcement consultant and held a public safety director position in Columbus, Ohio.
