Longding residents rally, demand peace from insurgents

Hundreds of residents in Arunachal Pradesh's Longding district marched on Friday, demanding an end to violence and extortion by insurgent groups. The "United Peace Rally" aimed to pressure authorities to restore peace. The rally, organized by the Wancho Council, saw participants from various community organizations protesting against abductions and extortion. They marched through Longding town, culminating at the deputy commissioner's office to present their demands. Longding district has experienced numerous abductions since 2018, despite the Armed Forces Special Powers Act being in effect. The Wancho community, the district's majority, has been significantly impacted by the ongoing insurgency.
